This has elegant aromas of lemon peel, spiced pear and white peach. The palate reveals silky texture and glossy, ripe fruit which is complemented by a refreshing saline note on the finish.
The soils in Saint Joseph are mainly composed of granite. The vineyards span 40 kilometres along the right bank of the Rhône river, facing east and south-east. The Marsanne grapes for this wine are sourced from the north of the appellation, as well as sites in the historical centre of the appellation. The more northern sites and granite-based soils lend minerality and freshness to the final blend, while the more central sites contribute a riper fruit profile and texture.
Maison & Domaines Les Alexandrins was established by Nicolas Jaboulet, formerly of the eponymous winery in Tain, the Perrin family from Château de Beaucastel, winemaker Guillaume Sorrel and viticulturalist Alexandre Caso in 2015. The partnership of this ‘micro-négociant’ stemmed from a long-standing friendship, a shared love of gastronomy and an aim to create wines that represent the best of their appellations. Now run solely by Nicolas, Alexandre and winemaker Benoît Busseuil, Maison Les Alexandrins is the négociant side of the business and these wines incorporate fruit purchased from a selection of the top growers in each appellation of the Northern Rhône, whereas the fruit for the Domaine Les Alexandrins wines comes entirely from estate-owned vineyards in Saint Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage.
