Bright ruby in colour. This Pinot Noir is brimming with red cherry and raspberry fruit married with subtle hints of spice and violet. Velvety tannins coat the palate and a lively acidity carries the flavours onto the juicy finish.

This Pinot Noir blends fruit from Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi vineyards with fruit sourced from a trusted network of growers with whom the Domaine have worked for many years. The fruit comes predominantly from the Santenay and Hautes Côtes de Beaune areas. The average vine age is over 25 years old. The vine age results in lower yields of fruit packed full of flavour.

Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi (formerly Château de Santenay) was once the stately home of the first Duke of Burgundy, Philippe le Hardi, who received his duchy from his father, the King of France. Philippe is famous for banning the cultivation of Gamay in the Côte d’Or, saying in his edict of 1395 that only Pinot Noir could be used in the production of red wines from the already fabled slopes.
