Very intense color. On the nose there is a wonderfully strong expression of the character of the Carménère variety (fruits of the forest, eucalyptus, and leather), with toasted notes (bay and clove), licorice, and black pepper. Very ample palate with rounded tannins. To finish, aromas of toasted bread and spices ending in a long aftertaste.
Cordillera Carménère has its origin in the famous Terroir of Peumo in the Cachapoal Valley. The valley is characterized by having a sub-humid Mediterranean climate, and its very warm days and very cold nights influenced by the Cachapoal River allow for a prolonged ripening period ideal for these vines.
In 1979 the Torres family purchased 100 hectares of vineyard in Maquehua, San Francisco Norte and Cordillera, together with a winery in the Curicó Valley. Miguel Torres brought with him his family’s long tradition of wine-making and over 140 years of company history. The Chilean Central Valley has an ideal climate for top quality viticulture. This Phylloxera-free region is dominated by the presence of the Andes, their peaks crowned with permanent snow. The difference in temperatures between day and night provides the optimum conditions for development of the grapes and increases their ability to retain their finest aromas.
