Maison Les Alexandrins Hermitage Blanc 2022
Maison Les Alexandrins Hermitage Blanc
Region: Hermitage, Rhone, France
Vintage: 2022
Bottle size: 75cl
Grape: Marsanne Rousanne
ABV: 13.5%
Complex aromas of stone fruit, spices and candied peel. On the palate, the wine is full bodied with a delicate balance of Roussanne’s acidity and finesse and Marsanne’s opulence and rich texture.
Hermitage, a tiny but highly acclaimed appellation, is located on the hill of Hermitage, a south-facing bank which is thinly covered with a variety of soil types. The Marsanne and Roussanne grapes for this wine are sourced from the prized climats of Rocoule and Maison Blanche towards the eastern side of the appellation. The vines are planted on loess clay and limestone soils, which are well suited to white grape varieties.
Maison & Domaines Les Alexandrins was established by Nicolas Jaboulet, formerly of the eponymous winery in Tain, the Perrin family from Château de Beaucastel, winemaker Guillaume Sorrel and viticulturalist Alexandre Caso in 2015. The partnership of this ‘micro-négociant’ stemmed from a long-standing friendship, a shared love of gastronomy and an aim to create wines that represent the best of their appellations. Now run solely by Nicolas, Alexandre and winemaker Benoît Busseuil, Maison Les Alexandrins is the négociant side of the business and these wines incorporate fruit purchased from a selection of the top growers in each appellation of the Northern Rhône, whereas the fruit for the Domaine Les Alexandrins wines comes entirely from estate-owned vineyards in Saint Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage.
