This wine has an elegant lift of citrus/lemon, with hints of melon, kiwi fruit and spice. A sultry palate that is round, mouth filling and elegant. Characters of melon and lime zest criss cross the palate, together with pithy citrus notes and an alluring fine phenolic, mineral edge on the finish.
Planted in 2000, by the Mills family, the quality of the Mills Chardonnay has always shone through and has been an important component of our Estate bottling in recent years. In 2017 a new Chardonnay block was planted with clone 95 and the first vintages from these young vines have further underlined the quality of this site.
Single Vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Estate vineyards – McCutcheon, Coolart Road, Judd and Wallis – which are 100% managed by in house viticultural and winemaking teams. These wines are produced from the highest performing blocks from each of these vineyards, harvested from small carefully selected parcels ensuring the clearest expression of their terroir.
Ten Minutes by Tractor started in 1997 with three vineyards in Main Ridge, all ten minutes by tractor apart. Since then, Martin and Karen Spedding have added four more vineyards that have a diverse range of microclimates from across the Mornington Peninsula. Each of these vineyard sites are home to different aspects, slopes, soils, altitude and varying influences from the cool maritime breezes that wind their way through the valleys. These little differences; all the things that make their vineyards distinct mean that while they may only be ten minutes by tractor from each other, they are a world apart.
