Powerful and intense with aromas of mulled cherries, garrigue, violet and cocoa on the nose. The palate is full bodied and structured, but a marked freshness and salinity on the finish.
The 26 hectares of vines lie at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Julien is in the process of converting his vineyards to organic and biodynamic viticulture. ‘La Colline’ is a single vineyard planted 100% to Grenache which measures just 1.5 hectares. The vines grow on marl and limestone soils and are situated at an altitude of 350 metres, with a southerly exposure, resulting in intense and robust, yet elegant wines. All the vines are cordon-trained for optimum exposure and ventilation of the grapes.
Described by Jeb Dunnuck as “the Chambolle Musigny of the Rhône”, Domaine des Bosquets is today run by Julien Bréchet. Since taking over the family domaine in 2006, Julien has made a name for himself as one of the rising stars of Gigondas, with Josh Raynolds asserting that Julien “has quickly climbed to the top tier of not just the Gigondas quality ladder, but that of the whole Rhône Valley
