This wine has aromas of white melon and white nectarine peach combined with jasmine blossom. On the palate it has flavours of citrus fruits and fresh hints of pepper mint, supported by a steely core of refreshing acidity. A vibrant wine, with a firm texture and a crisp, lingering finish.
The fruit for this wine comes from selected plots of vineyards located in Serralunga and Barbaresco in the Langhe area. Two of the vineyards, Rossj and Bass, which were both planted in 1984, are located in the area surronding the village of Treiso. Rossj vineyard is located at 300 metres above sea level and is composed of thin, calcareous clay, while the soils in the Bass vineyard are richer and less compact than Rossj vineyard’s soil. The soils in Serralunga d’Alba is composed by calcareous clay.
The Gaja tradition started in 1859 in Piedmont. Five generations of the Gaja family have nurtured and built on the dreams of the previous generation. In 1937 Giovanni Gaja took over the reins of the company and it was at this time the labels changed presenting the famous Gaja name first and foremost on the label as we see it today. Ca’Marcanda – Bolgheri is the birthplace of modern Italian wine – where new world meets old. A perfect home for 5th generation Gaja to continue to innovate.
